SEATTLE, WA – Lana Learn, the Seattle-based provider of online English language services, announces its launch into three geographic markets: Vietnam, Thailand, and China. Lana Learn’s proprietary video conferencing platform connects U.S. teachers with the international market of nearly 2 billion people learning English globally.
Lana Learn’s cofounders, Tina Tran Neville and Paul Neville – experienced U.S. diplomats, educators, and entrepreneurs – began Lana Learn after a trip to Asia in October 2018. While expanding their first company, college preparation service Transcend Academy, they discovered an insatiable demand for English learning from native speaking teachers. The team returned home to Seattle and launched Lana Learn, a teacher-student matching portal that offers a full range of English learning services.
Lana Learn taps into the $325B global e-learning market. The company addresses the problem of inadequate resources failing to keep up with the growing demand for English teaching as more international governments require English in public education to prepare students for the global economy. Lana Learn will initially focus on markets in Vietnam, Thailand, and China, but will expand services to the rest of Asia and Latin America in 2020.
To optimize the learning experience, Lana Learn has developed a proprietary, user-friendly video conferencing tool. “We started off using platforms like Zoom and Hangouts, but quickly realized the need to build our own,” said Lana Learn COO Paul Neville. “Other platforms didn’t package tools like multilingual chat, whiteboards, and recording capabilities, so we built our own.”
CEO Tina Tran Neville, a former teacher recently named Puget Sound Business Journal 40 Under 40 Business Leader, is passionate about applying technology to education. “When it comes to something special like a teacher and student relationship, we wanted to make sure that we built a technology that enhances the learning experience. As a former teacher, I care about educational outcomes.”
The Lana Learn team will travel to Asia in October and November 2019 to expand their customer base and strengthen local partnerships. Ha Dau, co-founder of Center Online, a software platform for over 80 English language centers in Vietnam said, “We are excited to partner with Lana Learn. Lana Learn will allow our Vietnamese students to improve their English with real teachers for better instruction.”
